Fuel Cycle supports blacklisting (blocking) and whitelisting (enabling) email addresses with certain domain extensions and IP addresses. Doing so requires coordination with your Fuel Cycle representative. You will typically complete this during the onboarding process but may not complete it until later.
By blacklisting, you prevent certain email addresses (such as @gmail.com or @yourcompetitor.com) or IP addresses (IP addresses of competitors) from registering for the community.
- When an email address domain is black-listed, this will prevent the community member from completing the member registration process with the black-listed email address domain. Members who attempt to register for your community using a black-listed email domain will receive a notification that the email address they are attempting to use is invalid and cannot be used to complete registration.
- When an IP address is blacklisted, this prevents community members from a blacklisted IP address from ever accessing your community's domain address. The community member will receive a "403 Error" message on their browser, which means their IP address is absolutely forbidden from accessing your community's domain.
By whitelisting, you ensure only people with certain email addresses (such as your @yourcompany.com) or IP addresses (IP addresses for your corporate network) can access the community.
- When an email address domain is whitelisted, community members will only be able to register with an email address domain that is whitelisted. Members who attempt to register with an email address domain that is not whitelisted will receive a notification that the email address they are attempting to use is invalid and cannot be used to complete registration.
- When an IP address is whitelisted, this will only allow community members from whitelisted IP addresses to access your community's domain address.
